MEET DAVID BLACKWELL

Florence, MT 

David has over 40 years of ministry experience in small town and rural settings, and his passion is helping both churches and pastors embrace outwardly-focused ministry In those contexts. David is the senior pastor of Florence-Carlton Community Church, a mid-sized congregation in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana, where he’s served for 21 years. As he partners with you and your church, he is actively engaged and serving on the “front lines” of ministry along with you.

Prior to his ministry in Montana, he has served churches as pastor or staff in West Virginia and North Carolina. In addition to his work at Florence, he currently serves as the Mentor Pastor for Mission Northwest in western Montana.

     David and his wife Beth married in 1985. David loves music, 19th century American history, and any sport with a scoreboard. Beth loves reading and almost anything with an artistic bent. They are blessed with four adult children, their spouses, and six grandchildren. 

David’s Christian journey includes a Methodist upbringing, a Baptist education and ministry, and pastoring an inter-denominational church for over two decades. Leaning on this diverse personal Christian background allows David to work with each church respecting the context of its traditions and history.

David was ordained in 1986 and is a recognized ordained minister by Mission Northwest. David earned his M.Div./RE from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1988. He has completed church consulting certification through Church Answers. He is progressing toward coaching certification through the Empower Coaching Network of the Baptist General Association of Virginia.
